The title "Buddha" is most commonly used for Siddhartha Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, who is often known as "the Buddha".
The word Buddha means "awakened one" or "enlightened one", according to some traditions, the title is literally translated as "the knowing one".
The title "Buddha" can also be used for all beings who have awakened and achieved enlightenment.
There are also the five celestial Buddhas who are worshipped by many followers. There were and will be many Buddhas.
A Buddha is a being who has realized the natural, true and undefiled luminous state of mind and sees the world 'as it is'.
All sentient beings are born in this state. Being pure aware without any defilements within the mind, all beings have the potential to become a Buddha.
You may have reached an awakened state of mind many times in your life, but because the mind is covered by personal habits and
afflictions we simply don't know, don't recognize or realize this state.
Awakening is the proces of attaining this natural state of mind and can be attained by practicing meditation,
trying to stop the thinking intellectual mind, getting rid of all defilements.
The goal is to become pure awareness without any conception or intelligence and finding the absence of an independent and substantial "self".
Sunyata, a mental state, is the emancipation of the mind by emptiness being consequent upon the realization that
"this world is empty of self or anything pertaining to self". Realizing the truth of no-self is a way that leads to the liberation
from all that exists within the mind.
When you awaken you will see reality as it is and realize that all is that we see, hear, smell, taste and touch.
Our senses and thoughts make up the whole existence and is conditioned within the mind.
The moment you know and realize that everything is but a manifestation of the mind, you have awakened and can see everything as one and nothing.
